Managing consent
Understanding consent for recorded conversations
It’s good practice, and in some cases required by law, to get consent from participants to your meetings or calls for capturing recordings. Prior to recording any calls or meetings, ensure you understand and comply with the consent laws in your location, those in your customer’s or any other participants’ location, and any regulations that might be specific to your industry.
As a Vinton user, you may be responsible for obtaining consent from participants where required by law, and we strongly recommend that users always ask for consent before recording/transcribing, regardless of whether they are legally required to do so.
Video calls
Consent to video call recordings is always recommended, and in some cases, required by law.
Phone calls
Consent to phone call recordings is always recommended, and in some cases, required by law.
When making calls with integrated telephony systems, these systems often have automated messages (“This call is being recorded for training and quality purposes”) that inform whether the call is being recorded or not. Consent is required for the call to be recorded.
In-person meetings
Consent to meeting recordings is always recommended, and in some cases, required by law.
You should request consent from meeting participants prior to recording an in-person meeting via the Vinton Mobile App or Vinton in the Salesforce browser app.
The Vinton Mobile App has a default built-in consent management checkbox that requires users to confirm they have obtained consent prior to starting the recording.
