When you’re an organisation that’s built its business on Salesforce, you want to maximise that investment by ensuring that any other technologies you implement integrate well with the platform.
Meeting AI notetakers are no exception. “Read” is one of many options for AI notetaking and comes with some great features that we’ll get into in a moment, as well as looking at how the integration with Salesforce works.
The information in this post is correct as at 27th March 2025.
What does Read do well?
Read does what one would expect from any AI notetaker i.e. records and transcribes virtual meetings, creates detailed summaries and other text outputs that enable users to be more efficient in their meeting follow-up.
Read creates highlights from meetings using reactions, topics or key questions asked. It will highlight interruptions, track facial cue insights – which some might find intrusive – as well as monitor bias and even charisma! Read can also track inclusivity – highlighting the use of non-inclusive terms.
Other measures include measuring talking pace, and the use of filler words (um, ah, y’ know).
How does it integrate with Salesforce?
During our assessment of Read’s Salesforce integration, we struggled to maintain the connection from Read to Salesforce. Multiple times a day it would ask to “reauthorise” the connection. Even when reauthorised, when conducting a test call, it did not send information to Salesforce.
Nevertheless, we were able to research how Read integrates with Salesforce.
Read adds an Activity to the Contact, Opportunity or Account for any meetings where the participant is a Salesforce record. It will not add notes to Leads. However Read can create new Salesforce Contacts/Leads to be created if no corresponding contact is found in Salesforce – you choose whether you want new entries to be Contacts or Leads.
Any next step tasks created in Read are included in the meeting notes but all in one Activity. Individual tasks do not get added as Salesforce tasks.
Interestingly, you can incorporate Salesforce data into Read. But does that change Salesforce being the centre of your business and are they potentially pushing to have Read as a salesperson’s main tool? This could be confusing for users.
Any meeting recording captured by Read is not playable directly within Salesforce. A link is included in the meeting notes, but this results in switching back and forth between systems. Not the greatest user experience and time-consuming for users and managers.
The full transcript and full insights are also not shared in Salesforce, meaning that a lot of the rich data it captures is kept siloed in the separate notetaker system. That means that opportunities and accounts in Salesforce are missing important conversations, in context against the history of that record.
So whilst Read comes with some useful features, its Salesforce integration lacks completeness. This is a concern for businesses looking to use conversational data to train AI agents like Agentforce.
