You can’t move for the number of AI notetakers in the market. We wrote about this in a recent post following a big funding round from one of the generalist AI notetakers in the market.
In our experience, whilst many companies are using AI notetakers for meeting notetaking, they’re all getting frustrated with the same core issue: all of that rich conversational data is sitting in the AI notetaker tool, not in Salesforce.
The key question is whether your AI notetaker is making your Salesforce smarter, or starving it of important information. That’s what we address in our Definitive Guide to AI Notetakers for Salesforce Pros.
What’s inside the guide?
Most notetakers optimise for themselves, not your Salesforce. If conversation data doesn’t live in Salesforce:
- Reporting becomes incomplete
- Automation becomes limited
- AI strategy becomes constrained
Every meeting captured outside Salesforce is data your future systems can’t use.
In the guide we explore:
Why most AI notetakers create a hidden data silo
Teams use a notetaker to record and transcribe customer, prospect, internal, project, recruitment and all sorts of other meetings. Think about the depth of detail in those conversations that could inform pipeline, product direction, customer satisfaction and more. The transcript of those meetings, plus any insights, usually sit in the notetaker platform, outside of Salesforce. Even if the transcript, summary etc. are well captured, you’re not taking advantage of it if it’s not alongside your other customer data.
What “integration” really means (and why it’s often shallow)
I’m certain that every notetaker tool on the market states that it integrates with Salesforce or other CRM tools. But what does integration really mean? It’s important to understand to what level data will be shared with Salesforce. An event update when a call or meeting took place with a link back to the notetaking tool? Hardly ideal or thorough.
The governance and compliance risks most teams overlook
You probably chose Salesforce as your CRM because of its stringent data security and governance. Add a notetaker that’s outside of Salesforce, you’re creating another environment with confidential customer information to manage. Not only that, but with such a range of notetakers readily available in the market, it’s often the case that individual employees use one without IT knowledge. Shadow IT is a major security risk.
How different categories of tools compare:
- Generalist AI notetakers, things like Otter, Gong, Fireflies
- Call platform tools (Teams, Zoom, Meet) that can transcribe your meetings
- Einstein Conversation Insights, the Salesforce-built option, but with limitations
- Salesforce-native solutions like Vinton
What to look for in an AI Notetaker
For businesses using Salesforce, the decision can’t just be about how well a notetaker transcribes and summarises meetings and calls. It’s more than that. We outline the questions you should be asking.
