Fireflies is an affordable AI notetaker that transcribes and summarises audio from meetings, lectures, notes and more. Its Business and Enterprise tiers also allow for video recording.

Fireflies also offers conversation intelligence that will consolidate insights on speakers, monologues, topics, sentiment quantity of meetings and compared with previous quarter.

It’s a popular solution that comes with a free tier (free forever) that offers transcriptions and summaries for up to 800 minutes per user, so for those seeking to transcribe and summarise only, it’s an ideal tool. Its other tiers – pro, business and enterprise – allow users to integrate with other applications like Salesforce.

Some of its interesting features include AI filters to show Questions, Dates & Times, Metrics or Tasks mentioned in the transcript. You can create soundbites (snippets) from the audio – or video if you have the Business or Enterprise tier. It offers Team Analytics in the business and enterprise plans.

Fireflies considerations

1. Does Fireflies include conversation intelligence?

Yes, the Business and Enterprise tiers of Fireflies come with Conversation intelligence. Actionable insights for meetings are captured in Fireflies. These insights are not not passed over to Salesforce through the integration.

2. Does Fireflies allow for custom summaries?

Yes, Fireflies offers a range of prebuilt templates for summaries. You can customise those prebuilt templates by adding or editing sections to them, however it’s important to note that Fireflies allocates AI credits to accounts, and each new summary section added consumes 1 AI Credit every time a meeting summary is generated.

3. Can I choose which AI transcription service to use with Fireflies?

While Fireflies lists Assembly.ai and Deepgram as transcription services, it’s unclear whether customers can select which service they prefer to use.

4. Does Fireflies score meetings for effectiveness?

No, Fireflies doesn’t score meetings specifically for effectiveness compared with best practices. It does determine the sentiment of a conversation though.

5. What’s Fireflies’ pricing?

Fireflies has a free tier forever which is limited to 800 minutes of storage/seat. The Pro tier comes with more features and 8,000 minutes of storage for $10 per seat/month. It also offers a Business tier ($19 per user/month) and Enterprise ($39 per user/month). These two tiers come with unlimited transcription, summaries and storage.

6. How easily could you switch to an alternative if you decided to leave Fireflies?

You can export your Fireflies account data by completing Fireflies’ data request form. After requesting your data, you receive a download link to a zip file with all account data including: all recordings, transcripts, summaries and attendee information. At the time of writing, it does not appear to include the conversation intelligence.

7. How easy is it to get started?

It’s easy to get started. You can use your Google or Microsoft login to sign up and connect your work calendar to use Fireflies. Their free tier allows you to get started immediately.

Fireflies’ integration with Salesforce

Whilst Fireflies does offer API integration with Salesforce, it will only add Notes and Tasks to Salesforce, it won’t sync all of the data like transcript, video or audio recordings and conversation intelligence too.

Why customers choose Vinton over Fireflies

1. Custom prompts for different types of calls

Vinton recognises different types of calls and summarises them based on that recognition. Fireflies will use the General Summary as a default for all your meetings, unless you choose an alternative template as the default. This means that if your meeting is an interview, but the MEDDIC summary is your chosen default prompt, you will have to reprocess the meeting to get the right hiring prompt allocated instead.

With Vinton you can add as many custom prompts as you require and Vinton will determine the best one for the context of the call. Should you wish to choose a different template, you can reprocess at no additional cost.

2. Native in Salesforce

Unlike Fireflies, Vinton is not an integration with Salesforce, it’s installed natively in Salesforce. This means that every piece of data generated from your meetings is added into Salesforce, not stored in an external silo.

3. Follows your existing Salesforce security settings

Because Vinton is native in Salesforce, whichever settings you have on record visibility, only users with access to records will be able to see any recordings related to those.

4. One login – single source of truth no silos

With everything natively in Salesforce, teams have one platform to log into. No siloed data in other places. Everything is where it should be against relevant records in Salesforce, and meeting recordings are playable from there too.

5. Hyper-customisation

Vinton is hyper-customisable so you can choose your own approach to the AI transcription service, the LLM and the data storage if you wish.

6. Low exit costs

Opt to back up or store media recordings to your own Azure, AWS or other cloud storage provider and never worry about retaining your recordings if you want to leave Vinton. And of course all your conversational data is exactly where it should be – in Salesforce.

7. Conversation intelligence

Vinton comes with in-built conversation intelligence, giving you a deeper understanding of your calls, with information like time spent speaking. And because these insights are in Salesforce, they can be used in Salesforce Dashboards and Reporting.

8. AI coaching

Vinton scores every meeting using meeting best practices. You can even customise the prompt to use your own sales methodology to score your meetings.

9. Straightforward pricing

A free tier for up to 5 users, Vinton’s paid for tiers start at $25 per user per month. More on Vinton pricing here.

10. Nothing new to learn

Your users already know Salesforce and so there’s no complicated training required. They just have Vinton join their next meeting.
